Gregg

Gregg at his one spawn location in Aquatic Temple

Gregg is a unique boss added to Dungeon Quest on 2024-04-25.

Gregg is a humanoid being with peachy skin, black clothing, a beard, a golden tooth on his left of his mouth, a feather hat, and a bunch of treasure on his body. When players complete a specific room, Gregg has a chance of falling down from the sky from the position of the last mob that was defeated and will laugh. Gregg has a 1/3 chance of spawning for the entire dungeon per room (excluding Boss Raids, event dungeons, legacy dungeons, and Wave Defence).

Gregg's health scales based on the player's current dungeon, and are scaled equally to all players in the dungeon. Players receive an amount of damage (Max HP as damage taken when attacked, regardless of how the players has any armors and rings, excluding rings of power) based on their highest dungeon, and all players deal a specific amount of damage that corresponds with their highest dungeon and equipped gear, which translates to a percentage of Gregg's health according to the health other players see. Players are given 75 seconds to defeat Gregg. If Gregg is still present in the fight when the timer reaches zero, he will laugh and despawn with no rewards given. Gregg can only spawn once per dungeon run, meaning he cannot be respawned when defeated or despawned. The dungeon timer pauses when Gregg appears until he is defeated or has despawned. However, the boost potions' timers (including XP Boost Potion XP Boost, Luck Boost Luck Boost, Speed Boost Speed Boost, and Health Boost Health Boost, excluding Revive Potion Revive Potions) at the top-right of the players' screen will not pause due to Gregg's spawn.

Gregg's Bounty

The icon of the Gregg's Bounty

Purchasing and using the Gregg's Bounty item for 3,000 Platinum guarantees that Gregg will spawn in the next run in a random room and 3 more loot drops are awarded for everyone in the server. This item is occasonally advertised to the player before the dungeon starts. It is not possible to use multiple Gregg's Bounties in one run. Using a Gregg's Bounty will also send a chat message that displays in bolded red ("[PLAYER NAME] PURCHASED [GREGG'S BOUNTY] FOR EVERYONE IN THE PARTY!"), as well as a message in the middle of the screen stating ("Bounty Activated! Thank you [Player Name]!"),

Attacks

Wealth Shield [Passive]: Throughout the entire fight, Gregg will be protected by a shield that absorbs 95% of the player's damage.

Coin Throw: Gregg will target a random player and will throw coins in a straight line three times (twice in beginning), damagingā€”and inflicting 'Rooted' status to any player hit. If any player gets attacked by Gregg's Coin Throw attack, deals ~10-15% of their maximum health as damage, regardless of how the players has any armors and rings, excluding rings of power.

Coin Rain: After the Coin Throw attack, Gregg will launch a barrage of coins around him, creating a large red circle aura in the vincinity, also spawning small red circles that deal AoE damage to players. If any player gets attacked by Gregg's Coin Rain attack, deals ~5-7.5% of their maximum health as damage, regardless of how the players has any armors and rings, excluding rings of power. During the Coin Rain attack, a golden coin will spawn in different locations for each player in a small party, or half the players in a large party (each player can only see and collect their own coin). Approximately 3 seconds[verification needed] after all of the golden coins are collected, all of Gregg's belongings will disappear, causing him to be stunned, change his facial expression, and temporarily lose his Wealth Shield for ~15 seconds.

Drops

When Gregg is defeated, players receive three loot drops (six with Gregg's Bounty) based on their current dungeon (which bypasses the inventory limit; additionally, Ultimate rarity items are not awarded), along with between 1-3 (chances: 1=85%, 2=10%, 3=5%) crafting materials, the material of which depends on the current dungeon. These materials are required for crafting a series of unique, non-tradable, unsellable, and permanent (unless a higher tier craftable of the same class is made) legendary weapons in the Lobby, offered by the Craftsman. Players must follow a sequential order to craft these legendary weapons, progressing from the simplest to the most complex.

Additionally, players can exchange materials for other materials at the Craftsman's workshop by selecting the 'Exchange' option with a 2:1 ratio.

As of this writing, the Craftsman's workshop may only be found in the beginner lobby, next to the upgrades vendor. There is no Craftsman in the 100+ lobby.

Craftable Legendaries

There are eight craftable legendaries, four for each of the warrior and mage classes. These craftables cannot be sold, traded or upgraded, and they always have the exact same stats. Once the next craftable in the sequence is crafted, the previous one is removed from the player's inventory.

Tips & Recommendations

  • When grinding for materials, always choose the quickest dungeon you can play.
  • Both classes can deal melee damage to Gregg. This is recommended at all stages of the fight for additional damage, and more so after collecting all the coins.
  • Since Gregg can drop loot based on your current level, it is recommended to farm Gregg in easier and shorter dungeons such as Desert Temple or Winter Outpost. This is especially helpful if you are lacking decent equipment or you are having trouble with your highest dungeon.
  • However, damage dealt to Gregg relies on both the spells you are using and your total damage. Gregg also gets a health increase for every dungeon difficulty.

Trivia

  • Not counting Legacy Dungeons (which have no Gregg spawns) and unconfirmed rooms, Volcanic Chambers and Aquatic Temple have the fewest rooms available for Gregg to spawn, with only one. Gilded Skies has the most with seven.
  • Gilded Skies and Yokai Peak are the only two dungeons where Gregg can spawn in every non-boss room.
  • Gregg doesn't drop an extra item for those with the gamepass.
  • Unlike most bosses, Gregg is the only boss that is capable of attacking the players based on their max HP as damage, regardless of armors and rings, excluding rings of power:
    • Coin Throw deals ~10-15% of the players' max HP as damage.
    • Coin Rain deals ~5-7.5% of the players' max HP as damage.
    • If any player gets attacked by Gregg, they lose percentage based on their max HP as damage.
  • Gregg is the only boss that is capable of pausing the dungeon timer when appeared until has gone, except the boost potions' timers at the top-right of the players' screen.
  • If the players has any boost potions (including XP Boost Potion XP Boost, Luck Boost Luck Boost, Speed Boost Speed Boost, and Health Boost Health Boost, excluding Revive Potion Revive Potions) when Gregg appears and the dungeon timer pauses, the boost potions' timers at the top-right of their screen will still count down.
    • Due to the boost potions' timers still counting down after Gregg has appeared and the dungeon timer has paused, the players will waste their boosts for 75 seconds if they did not want to fight Gregg.
  • Before their addition on 2024-07-03 20:04 UTC, craftable Legendary weapons for the mage class were shown in a sneak peek in the Dungeon Quest Discord server on 2024-06-07:

  • Gregg has an unused theme: (raw) Pirate Gregg
  • Prior to quests update, the Gregg's Bounty item was previously priced at 249 Robux.
