Level Up

This interface appears when leveling up.

Levels are a core function in Dungeon Quest. They provide players with crucial stat increases via Skill Points. Players can vanquish enemies and bosses found in dungeons and wave defence to earn experience (EXP), which counts toward level progression.

Different maps and difficulties require certain levels to gain access to, and reaching the minimum level requirement does not necessarily mean it is automatically possible to complete it. Leveling up will grant the player access to better weapons, armors, rings and abilities, as well as to higher dungeons and daily rewards.

Boosting EXP[]

There are five methods the player can use to boost their total EXP earnings. Two of these require the player to use Robux (R$).

VIP[]

VIP is a game pass that can be purchased for 480 R$. VIP grants a permanent 1.2x EXP boost, as well as a legendary weapon enchant, a [VIP] chat tag next to the player's name when chatting, and a golden name plate above the player's head.

2x EXP Event[]

Occasonally, there will be a 2x EXP event which boosts EXP gains by 2x additively with the EXP Boost potion (i.e. +100% = 2x, +200% = 3x), usually for most or all dungeons. Starting from Aquatic Temple's release, this event typically appears for anywhere between a few weeks to a few months just before a new dungeon is released.

EXP Boost Potions[]

XP Boost Potion

EXP Boost potions can be acquired during certain events or from the Shop for Robux. As with other potions, they can be gifted by pressing the respective button and choosing a player as the recipient. Once bought (instead of gifted), they cannot be transferred to someone else.

The timer will not count down in lobbies and event dungeons. However, it will still count down during the Pumpkin King, Krampus, and Gregg.

Alternate Character[]

Upon reaching level 100, the player can choose to start over on a new save slot as an alternate character, preserving their current save slot to play at any time. Every 10 levels (rounded down) the player's main character (the one with the highest level) has achieved, all alternate characters will receive a +1.5% EXP and +2.5% Gold additively scaling boost. This automatically applies to all characters except the one with the highest level and experience. This bonus is capped at +30% EXP and +50% Gold upon reaching level 200.

Playing With Friends[]

For every friend in the same party, the player will receive +3% additively scaling EXP, up to +30% (10 friends).

Level Calculator[]

Note: To view this calculator on Mobile, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and tap View Full Site.

To calculate the amount of Runs needed:

  1. Subtract the current amount of EXP that you already have from the total that is shown.
  2. Divide that number by the amount of EXP given from a single run at the correct difficulty and boost status using the EXP Earnings table below.
  3. Round your answer up to get the amount of Runs needed to reach the goal level (even if it is .01, round it all the way up to the next number).

EXP Earnings[]

When all boosts are combined, the total amount of EXP that can be earned is 3.8x the normal rate (1.2 + 1.3 + 1.3 + 2). The table below lists the experience gained by defeating every enemy and boss, accounting only for VIP and XP Potion. Desert Temple's EXP total is ranged due to how each playthrough can have a different amount of enemies generated.

Skill Points[]

Skillpoints example

Skill Points are granted every time a player levels up in Dungeon Quest. This menu can be accessed through the Skills tab located on the left side of the Inventory, or by pressing the large orange plus (+) button in the top left if there are extra points remaining. The total amount of skill points a player has will always remain one point below their current level, as players do not receive a point when starting out.

Skill points can be put into physical power, spell power, or stamina. Each point in stamina boosts the user's health by 5%. Each point in physical or spell power boosts the user's damage in said category by 1.35%, although it is imperative that points are only added into one of the two categories to maximize potential damage.

Skill points can be reset by the player while in the lobby, assuming they have enough gold to pay for the reset or have the Free Skill Reset game pass to do it for free. The amount of gold required to purchase a reset increases by the amount of points that are currently being used. Resetting skill points allows players to rebalance them or to change their class.

Classes[]

Classes are the different playstyles that users can go into battle with. There are two damage-dealing (DPS) classes, and two support classes. Specific armors, weapons, and abilities within the game correspond with each class. Having the correct setup for a class is the most optimal strategy for progression. The class that a user runs with does not affect loot drops.

Damage-dealing classes[]

There are two distinct damage-dealing classes in Dungeon Quest. Both classes use gear and abilities with high damage or spell power in order to defeat enemies.

Warrior[]

Loadout war

Warrior using their melee attack.

Warriors are the physical fighters in Dungeon Quest. They depend on both their weapon to deal melee damage and their physical abilities to deal ranged damage. Their strength scales with the physical damage of their weapon and the physical power of their armor. In earlier dungeons, warriors rely primarily on their sword to deal melee damage due to there being less warrior abilities in comparison to mage abilities. Warriors rely less on their melee damage and more on their physical abilities as the game progresses, due to the increase in power of enemies, spell multipliers making abilities stronger, and overall ineffectiveness of melee damage in comparison.

For warriors, it is recommended to put the majority of skill points into physical power, some skill points on stamina, and no skill points on spell power.

Mage[]

Mages are the magic fighters in Dungeon Quest. They depend entirely on their magic abilities to deal ranged damage. Their power scales with the spell power of their weapon and armor. In earlier dungeons, mages have the advantage of range and having more abilities at their disposal, but this evens out as the game progresses and warriors also start to rely on using ranged attacks. Additionally, all healing abilities scale with spell power.

For mages, it is recommended to put the majority of skill points into spell power, some skill points on stamina, and no skill points on physical power.

Support classes[]

There are two distinct support classes in Dungeon Quest. Both classes use armor that is high in stamina, a weapon that is high in spell power, and abilities that help the team by healing or taunting enemies.

Healer[]

Healers are the team lifeline in Dungeon Quest. They use healing abilities to restore lost health to all players. Healers typically wear guardian armor and use a mage weapon in order to prioritize the healing of other teammates. Healers invest their points into Stamina to focus on healing teammates over themselves.

For healers, it is recommended to only put skill points into stamina, since the power to heal teammates comes from using a mage weapon. Healers can allocate some points into spell power to ensure that they are able to effectively heal their team.

Tank[]

Loadout tank

Tank using a taunting ability.

Tanks are the team defenders in Dungeon Quest. They are very durable and help to support the team by using taunting abilities to draw enemies away from other teammates. This allows the rest of the team to focus primarily on dealing damage rather than trying to avoid being targeted by attacks. Tanks wear a full guardian set and use a mage weapon in order to heal and restore lost health they may take from enemy attacks. During boss battles, tanks will usually switch entirely to using healing abilities, since taunts are ineffective on most bosses.

  • For tanks, it is recommended to only put skill points into stamina.

Additional class information[]

  • In earlier dungeons, damage-dealing players can still effectively run while using one or both pieces of guardian armor in the place of their normal piece. It can be maxed in their respective power type, reaching nearly the same level as the DPS armor while providing higher health. The extra health granted can allow players to move some stamina points into their respective power type, which helps to make up for the difference. This strategy starts to lose its effectiveness after King's Castle, with a complete loss of effectiveness at around The Canals.
  • It is recommended for damage-dealing players to place some of their skill points into stamina, rather than placing health upgrades on their armor.
    • Players that run with all of their skill points in their respective damage type and none in stamina are referred to as "glass cannons". Glass cannon, as the name implies, "hit" like a cannon (deal more damage) but can "break" like glass (are more likely to die). Glass cannon players are required to have sufficient dodging skills in order to be effective.
      • When playing as a glass cannon, if the player's equipped gear does not provide sufficient health to be able to sustain at least one attack from enemies, it is recommended to place the minimum amount of skill points needed into stamina to sustain one attack, which ensures the player can be healed.

Tips and Recommendations[]

  1. Use the Damage Calculator and input your stats.
  2. Check the wiki for your dungeon's enemy health (e.g., Ghastly Harbor Nightmare (GH NM) has 9B HP).
  3. Enter your maximum skill points (your level minus 1).
  4. Divide Enemy HP: Divide the enemy's HP by 1-5. For GH NM:
    • 1: 9B
    • 2: 4.5B
    • 3: 3B
    • 4: 2.25B
    • 5: 1.8B
  5. Optimize Skill Points: Compare your minimum damage to the list. Adjust skill points until your minimum damage matches the largest number less than your damage.

Additional Tips:

  • Duo/Trio: Add 30% HP for each extra player, then divide by the number of DPS. For example:
    • Duo: 9B + 30% = 11.7B Ć· 2 = 5.85B per player.
    • Trio: 9B + 60% = 14.4B Ć· 3 = 4.8B per player.
  • Party (Mixed Roles): For a party with 5 players but only 4 DPS:
    • 9B + 120% = 19.8B Ć· 4 = 4.95B per DPS player.

Note that this is just a starting point. Optimizing health to be able to take two boss hits without dying is oftentimes a better option for larger parties with healers. If slightly less health means it takes fewer hits to beat a boss, it may be worth it.

Trivia[]

  • If a player was alive within a run and did not have full health when leveling up, they would automatically be fully healed. This is not the case for players with a new UI.
