Reason: Limited time event (2021-10-27 to 2021-12-05)

For the special currency pertaining to this event, please see the Candy Shop.

The Pumpkin King was an event boss fight that was created for the Halloween 2021 event in Dungeon Quest. It was released on 2021-10-27, and was removed on 2021-12-05. Players who reached to level 175 could fight the boss, and was only available on Nightmare difficulty. This fight was not available in Hardcore mode because the lives mechanic was used instead. Unlike other event dungeons, players got to use their own gear and skill points here. The recommended minimum health for this fight was around 400 million HP, although larger groups might find 760 million HP to be better due to the potential for attacks to stack. Players had 7 minutes to complete the Pumpkin King fight. For the fight to have begun, everyone was required to press ā€œREADYā€ or for 30 seconds to have passed, in which case the fight would've automatically started, regardless of the "READY" status of players. All players in the raid would be given five seconds.

The main theme was (raw) Bouncing Halloween.

Boss

Pumpkin King

The Pumpkin King

The Pumpkin King was the only boss that could appear. Once the battle started, he would spawn at the Excalibur, destroying most objects near it within the arena. He had a base health of 12.06Q, with this amount increasing by 30% for each additional player that joined the party. Each attack dealt between 162M and 198M HP, except for the Pumpkin Bombs, which dealt double this amount. The Pumpkin King had a total of five moves throughout the fight (including the Anti-Cheat Ability).

Attacks

Potion Circles: Every few seconds, the Pumpkin King would create many potion circles in order around the arena. After a few seconds, each potion circle exploded in the order which they appeared, dealing damage to players that were within their radius. This attack could occur before, during, or after the other attacks, appeared approximately every ~9 seconds. All the other attacks below occurred in a cycle lasted approximately ~13 seconds.

Cauldrons: The first attack in the cycle consisted of the boss spawning four cauldrons randomly around the center of the arena, each of which made up the corner of a square. A line would appear from each cauldron and aimed toward the closest player, assuming somebody was in range. The line was of a fixed length no matter how far the player was from the cauldron. It would then zap after one second, dealing damage to any player within the marked zone. The lines reappeared and aimed again after one second. This happened a total of six times. The cauldrons disappeared together with the second Pumpkin Bomb and reappeared a second later, restarted the entire cycle.

Potion Sunbeam: The second attack in the cycle consisted of the boss using an animation (similar to the animation of Agony Orbs and Ice Barrage) before summoning a set of six potion lines spanning the arena which activated and deal damaged after one second to any person still standing on the line. The lines intersect in the middle, making it look like twelve lines in a sunbeam pattern originating from the boss in the center. This occurred a total of ten times, each attack appearing half a second after the previous one. After a pause of about two seconds, Pumpkin Bombs appeared as described below.

Pumpkin Bombs: The third attack in the cycle consisted of the boss using the same animation as the Potion Sunbeam before throwing out large pumpkin bombs onto multiple random players, affected up to ten players at once. Each bomb would detonate after about one second, dealing double damage to any person within range of its explosion radius. After one second, another bomb would appear on multiple random players. After the second detonation, the boss returned back to the beginning of the attack cycle.

Anti-cheat: If a player attempted to "cheat" by using Ghostly Rampage or any other way to climb up one of the houses, after the Pumpkin King spawned, many pumpkin bombs would detonate on the player, dealing damage until the player died or got off the house.

Drops

At the end of a successful raid, players had a chance to drop one of three cosmetics. In addition to this, EXP and about 10-15 Candy were guaranteed. Candy is an event currency that was used to purchase Halloween themed cosmetics from the Candy Shop.

Cosmetic Drops

Players had a low, UNDISCLOSED chance to receive a cosmetic drop. There was one weapon, one armor, and one title that could drop. Each cosmetic dropped sequentially, those were Pumpkin King's Greatstaff weapon, Pumpkin King armor and lastly, Pumpkin Slayer title.

Trivia

  • This was the first event boss that appeared for limited time.
    • This was also the first event boss to have an anti-cheat ability.
  • This event used the same format as Boss Raids, with the major differences consisting of the 7-minute timer and the normal Dungeon player cap of 40 rather than the Boss Raids player cap of 10.
  • The arena used the Halloween version of Lobby 1, which was used as the main lobby for the Halloween events in 2019 and 2020. The soundtrack was the Lobby 1 Halloween Theme from previous years.
  • Upon the release of Northern Lands, this became temporarily available. This was fixed shortly afterwards. [verification needed]
